Charlie

Today will be another VERY busy day at the bakery. We have baked [and iced] somewhere around 200 dozen sugar cookies in the last day or two! But, on an unrelated note, I found these images of Charlie while going through the infant photos from last week. I just snapped them as he was laying around being sooooo good. He is such a sweet dog. I just love him!

I just thought his little face was too sweet not to share.

Be happy...and love puppies!

Babies and Sugar Cookies

I have been so very busy lately. Last week I had a nice visit in Arkansas, but even that was busy. I had a handful of photo sessions [with some super cute babies], some deliveries and some "catching up" among other things. I do have a busy week this week so there will be few, if any more, posts. With Easter coming this weekend we have so many cupcakes and even more sugar cookie orders to fill! I did want to share a few images from my sessions last week. I hope to have more projects and things to share soon, but until then enjoy the sweet babies!

I have unfortunately not had much productivity over the weekend as far as my projects go. Friday I was working at the bakery most of the day, but I did have a short photo session that morning with Aubry and her daughter Brooke.

I feel like I have been very productive today, yet I don't have a lot of physical proof of it. I did finally finish a custom artwork that I have been staring at for a month as well as some hair accessory orders. I am glad I can deliver them on my trip down this week and really feel like I can mark them off my list. I really want to get some purple ribbon to hang the "Taylor" painting with, but I may not have time before delivery.

I still have much to do before I leave tomorrow including finishing another painting, and packing for a week of unpredictable Arkansas weather, and spending time with Nicholas. I am glad to be going and seeing my family, but I am already eager to get back and start more projects!

Praying for a green thumb

Back in the fall, before we had even moved into our house, I planted tulip bulbs out front by our sidewalk and some by the back step where we enter the house. I have never done a lot of gardening so I just kept fearing that I had wasted my time. I was so afraid that I would begin watching for them and would see nothing. However, I was mistaken, and the feeling you get from seeing those first little green shoots coming up is impossible to explain [for me anyway]. I was thrilled when I just kept seeing more little tips poking through the dirt. I wish I would have photographed them before they got this tall, but I cannot help but have an enormous feeling of pride every time I walk by these little babies by our back entrance.

I am very excited to watch them grow!

Picnic basket makeover

Recently while getting a few of the last things we had stored over at my in-laws' house, I came across this old picnic basket that I had bought at a garage sale last fall. I had been searching for a "real" picnic basket [one that is actually a basket] for a while. I just think they are too cute, and most that I found were old and falling apart or way too expensive...or both. But here is the one that I found [I don't remember how much it cost].

Cute, right? Until you opened it up, and found this:

This photo doesn't actually show how gross it looked, but I figured I could just remove the fabric and replace it.

So then I dug through my fabric stash and found this!

So now my cute picnic basket looks like this:

It was really pretty simple. I just removed the old lining, and used it to create a new one. The old one was actually tied in with what appeared to be fishing line, but I, of course, hot glued mine. I don't expect it to be super durable or last forever, but it satisfies me for now. It will serve its purpose, and it is much cuter. Mission accomplished.

Just last week I went to WalMart, and they had loads of cute, actual picnic baskets with cute floral fabric lining right inside the door. Oh well...buying a new one for $12 is still an option, but wouldn't give me the same satisfaction as using this one will.

A step in the right direction...

Yesterday, amidst the chaos that is my house right now, I managed to get the little area of my dining room that I have been picturing put together. It actually came together just as I had imagined.

Not only am I pleased with how it came out visually, I love that it has items that are important to me. The trunk came from Batesville, the suitcase was my great grandmother's, the small, weathered photo frame is one Daddy made for my wedding, and the chair belonged to my great grandparents. I was so thankful that I was able to get a photo of them to include with the arrangement. Of course the painting I did is important to me [until I decide to paint over it], and I don't think it would hurt any of us to be reminded of those three words. I didn't originally plan on putting the "lockhart" sign in the chair. I actually just put it there to get it off the table for a minute, realized it was there in the photo, and then decided I kind of liked it.

This got me going with lots of other little "arrangements" around the house, and I am eager to get everything in order. I keep bringing more things into the house from both sets of parents, but eventually everything will have a place. I have been doing a good bit of purging as well. It is all a step in the right direction, and I am enjoying the process.

Blooms and Trunks

So yesterday I tried and tried to post, but I couldn't get my photo to upload. I thought it was the server or something, but I guess it was the photo. So here is the photo of our tulip tree in bloom.

I am glad I took this photo because the wind is blowing like CRAZY, and a lot of the petals are now in the yard.

So I have been pretty busy since I got home from church. I got some things rearranged in my dining room, hung the "love one another" painting [or watched Nicholas hang it], and made progress on the other painting for that room. It is one of those days when I have the house in the mess and multiple projects started. I did finish one though. I have had this trunk for a while, and it matched my room when I got it years ago. However, it was a little ornate and gold for my taste. I started by cutting the old fabric along the edge, and it ripped off pretty easily. Then I accidentally knocked the super heavy and super sharp knife-box-cutter thing off the table and stabbed a hole in my foot. Ouch. But I survived and replaced the fabric with a little hot glue...of course! I broke the handle when I pulled the fabric off, but I wasn't too upset about that. I kind of like it without it.

I am still rearranging, so I will have some new photos soon.

Be happy...and busy!

Birthday Weekend

Okay, so I didn't get the project I was working on completed. I actually got halfway through it and realized I totally messed up the definition I was painting. I originally penciled the word and definition of the word happiness...then painted "happinoss". Oops...good thing I wasn't too fond of it anyway. I need to borrow a sander for another project, and then I need to get the stuff so Nicholas can hang my other painting and the super neat "mantel" Daddy made for me out of old, weathered wood. Can't wait! I haven't been as productive since I am having a birthday weekend with Nicholas, but I did get this great camera from my sis. It works perfectly on my coffee table!

I also got Nicholas to go out in the yard for approximately 30 seconds with me this morning to snap this photo. It is squinty because it was super sunny, and there was a tiny patch of shade we sat in. And it is much funnier if you know that I asked him to wear my black [men's] converses just for the photo, and his toes were really squished...and you can't even see his feet. Oops again.
