Around the house

Since we moved I have been going through my art/sewing/craft supplies and finding projects that I did back in the summer. Things like:

This apron

This Springy Clutch

Last summer [when it was really stinking hot] I also sanded and repainted my two [slightly mismatched] nightstands that I got from an antique/craft fair. I got both for $50.00, but they needed work. I wish I had before photos of the terrible "country" pink they were painted, but just know this is a vast improvement. On my side I added this lamp from Walmart, coordinating books, and the birds that were our wedding cake toppers. I love them, and they provide excellent storage!

I am obsessed with old suitcases and trunks. The army "trunk" I bought at a flea market for $15.00 years ago. I bought in in Batesville, AR, and it actually has the troop number and information [it was actually out of Batesville]. The suitcase on top belonged to my great-grandmother, and when I saw it at my grandma's house I loved it. Luckily, she didn't hesitate to part with it, and right now they live at the foot of our bed.

I am really enjoying getting things together around the house. Hopefully we will finish getting our new dining room table assembled, my photo collage for the dining room wall hung, and our tv stand in place this weekend!

'til then...

Breakfast

Airplanes and Elephants: The funnest breakfast
I have had in a while.
I don't know why biscuits are always just circles.
That is no fun.

Our first home

After a long wait and a lot of planning and daydreaming we finally got into our cute new [old] house. It is still somewhat in the works, but it is coming together nicely. I have so many more ideas for cute little things, but I am trying to be patient. We also need an area rug, and our dining room table is to be delivered tomorrow. But ultimately I am super pumped! Here are a few shots of the house. Someday I will share a few more before shots...it was quite a transformation!

There were so many different surfaces/textures in this bathroom...
The light/color in this photo is terrible, but it still shows the change. I will have updated photos later.

A little paint and refinishing the hardwood went a long way in this room [still lacking a rug].

This is probably my favorite part of the house and the biggest transformation!

This is what the outside of the house looks like in the summer. We have a lot of work to do on it this summer with painting, gutters, trim, and yardwork. I am eager to see that transformation as well! Let me know what you think!

Lately...

Wow...what can I say!? What have I done lately? A lot of stuff! Before we got to move into our new home I was feeling kind of uninspired...or maybe I was inspired and just lacked the space, tools, and organization to create. We moved into our home right before the holidays, so I have been doing a lot of work getting things in order. We also had a good visit with family in Arkansas, and I finally got back into the groove of creating things. Here is what I have done just this week:

crocheted cowl scarf=super soft and cozy

Pillows for our sofa modeled by our chairs

Pom Pom Clover [my version from the Feb. 2011 issue of Country Living]

I also have been thinking how I want to own my own cupcake shop, a cute flower and handmade gift shop, as well as a wedding planning business. Yeah...I have been feeling ambitious lately.
