A Satisfying Weekend

Saturday Nicholas and I returned to the City Market to bring home some flowers and replacement tomato plants. We had a fun morning, made a quick trip to the Plaza, and then home to plant flowers...except then we needed to go buy a weed eater so we went to Home Depot and Lowe's, where we bought several more plants. We decided to just come home and get to work after church today. We did that, but then it started raining so our plans were changed again. Even though I really wanted to get everything planted today I am excited about what we did accomplish. Months ago Daddy helped me make a shelf out of some old weathered wood. However, it was so heavy [because of the way I wanted it to look] that it was kind of going to be a pain to hang. After bringing it home, finding the studs in the wall, bringing it back to Arkansas for some slots for the screws, and back home again it is finally hanging! Nicholas was sweet to hang it, and he didn't complain a bit even though it was probably annoying. I love it!

This is the owl Nicholas got me for Christmas. I would always pick it up at Target but wouldn't buy it because it didn't match my Christmas tree at all [it was actually a Christmas ornament]. But I pulled the loop out of the top because he is too cute to put away for 11 months of the year.

I felt like it needed something along the front, and I have been itching to use these paper doilies to make some bunting. It was quick, easy, and just what I wanted.

I made this painting in the winter before we ever got married. It has not had a home until now.

So even though I didn't get to do what I had planned, I am very glad to have this part of our room put together. It was driving me crazy. Now I just have to get completely caught up, the yard completed, and tackle this disaster of a craft space/office/xbox room...that is for another [very ambitious] day.

Be happy!

Check, check, check!

Monday was a very busy day of cleaning house, running errands and planting our garden! I was so excited to finally get to do that. We went last Saturday to the city market and picked up seeds. I loved the market, and I am excited to go back this weekend for some flowers. We already had a few lettuce and tomato plants that we have been trying to keep alive on the back deck. The lettuce has perked up quite a bit since we got them in the ground, but I am afraid the tomatoes will not make it. Perhaps the most exciting part of the garden was that I got to use the cute little row markers that my dad helped me make. We put them together really quickly when I was in Arkansas a few weeks ago, and after we bought seed I just painted the words with acrylic. Here is what they looked like "planted":

[This was right after we planted so the leaves were still droopy]
[If you look in the background you can see our sad little tomato plants]

Another thing I marked off my to do list this week was a commissioned art piece. I was excited to get to work on a painting project, and I feel like I accomplished what she asked for.

It feels good to have these things accomplished...so I can start more projects!!! I have a lot more work to do in the yard, and several art pieces in my mind that I am eager to work out.
Be happy...and productive!

Playing Catch-up

Wow. That is all I can say for how busy I have been. I never would have imagined that taking a part-time job would have made such an impact! A combination of photo sessions picking up [due to warm weather], needing to do work in the yard, frequent trips to Arkansas, and being exhausted when I get home from the bakery has given me a very messy house and projects piling up. I have played catch-up some this weekend. I got some photo orders filled, and I am almost finished editing a few more batches. I have a sewing project for a friend and a commissioned painting [that one is almost finished] before I can be caught up so I can do my "for fun" projects. Tomorrow I have set aside to clean my house, and I am almost looking forward to it. I am just so ready for things to be neat and tidy again! In the meantime, I wanted to post a few images from my most recent Arkansas sessions. Hopefully I will have some crafty things to post soon. I am on my way to being caught up!

Be happy!
